Layne Staley Mobile Medical Unit

The Layne Staley Mobile Medical Unit (LSMMU) provides critical behavioral health services to people in need across the Seattle area. The LSMMU is a mobile dosing vehicle built to honor the legacy of Layne Staley by providing much-needed care to our unhoused neighbors in the Seattle community.

Treatment Where It’s Needed

The LSMMU provides medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) directly to patients at tiny home villages across Seattle — meeting people where they are and removing the transportation barriers that often stand between them and lasting recovery.

Honoring Layne’s Legacy

Funded in part by our Layne Staley Memorial Fund, the LSMMU is emblazoned with a photo of Layne as it brings care to our community. Every day, the LSMMU honors Layne and his legacy by providing lifesaving treatment to people suffering from substance use disorders.

Partnering with LIHI

The Layne Staley Mobile Medical Unit presently serves the Interbay tiny home village operated by the Low Income Housing Institute in Seattle. This is part of a long partnership between LIHI and THS to provide behavioral health care and homes to those most in need in our community.

Launching the Layne Staley Mobile Medical Unit

The LSMMU started operations in June 2026 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony covered by the local news agency King 5. We are proud to share their coverage with you here. Built by Mission Mobile Medical, the LSMMU is the most ambitious expression of our mission, to foster healing and recovery for all. The Layne Staley Mobile Medical Unit will continue to expand operations to serve more tiny home villages in the Seattle area.
