“I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life—and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.” – Georgia O’Keeffe
March 8th marks International Women’s Day and this year’s theme is “Accelerate Action for Gender Equality.” The fight for gender equality is an ongoing battle that women are still fighting for to this day, and there are many ways that individuals can become involved in the movement. The organization for International Women’s Day provides some examples on how we as individuals can accelerate this movement, “We can call out stereotypes, challenge discrimination, question bias, celebrate women’s success, and so much more. Additionally, sharing our knowledge and encouragement with others is key.” The celebration of International Women’s Day is designed to be inclusive and strengthen the movement and amplify the goals.
During the month of March and throughout the rest of the year, uplift the women in your community, share ideas and information from them, and support the fight towards gender equality in all sectors. Use #AccelerateAction and #IWD2025 to show your support online!
