Youth advocates have long been troubled by the number of young people of color caught up in the criminal justice system. Many of those youth, once in the system, end up in a downward cycle — more criminal contact, less school attendance, poor decision making. ROYAL seeks to reverse these trends by providing youth at-risk of reoffending with intensive services, opportunities and support. ROYAL's goal is to reduce youth recidivism, especially among youth of color.
The services ROYAL provides follow an SOS approach:
- S is for Services: Counseling, community referrals, intensive case management
- O is for Opportunities: Internships, special events, leadership development, job fairs
- S is for Support: Job coaching, mentoring, family engagement, community support
ROYAL is designed for high-risk, justice system involved youth — youth who have active court cases, have been recently charged or are considered at-risk of being charged. The program lasts 12 to 15 months.
If you work with or are a parent or guardian of a youth who fits these criteria, you can refer them to ROYAL by clicking here for our online referral form. Once completed and submitted, this form will be emailed securely to one of our ROYAL staff who will be in touch with you within 48 hours.
