Help A Child’s Holiday Wishes Come True
For most of us, the holidays are a time for families, friends and memories. It’s a special time for kids who look forward to the festivities all year long. It’s easy to forget that not every child has the same opportunity to experience the joy of the season.
For a parent in recovery the holidays can be even more challenging than the rest of the year. While dealing with the process of getting their own lives on track, they struggle to meet the basic needs of the family. Extras that make the holidays happy are few and far between.
Our Pregnancy and Parenting Program gives parents in recovery the skills they need to become better moms and dads. We provide families a nurturing and safe environment where they can learn new and healthy ways of interacting with each other. There’s no magic involved – it takes hard work and enormous amounts of dedication to rebuild a life and a family. We can add some magic by helping these families to experience the holidays with happiness, joy and hope.
A contribution from you allows us to add some sparkle to the holidays. A gift of $25 provides a warm hat and pair of gloves, $50 buys toys for one of our child care toddlers. $100 buys a backpack and fills it with supplies that can be used when school begins again, while $150 takes care of a plate full of holiday treats and snacks for 15 of the youth we serve. A generous gift of $250 helps to partially underwrite a holiday party at one of our youth branches.
As you prepare for your own holiday festivities with friends and family, remember our kids and the difference you can make for them at this time.
